Australian consumers are being asked to pay up to $238 more than a US consumer looking to buy the new Tivoli Audio iPod sound system which sells in Australia for $599 Vs $299 in the USA. The overpriced iPod accessory which not only plays iPod tunes and AM and FM radio, has several competitors such as the JBL and Altec Lansing range of combined radio and iPod players that are equal quality but up to $200 cheaper. Available in either black or white the massive difference is being pocketed by the distributor Audio Dynamics and Australian retailers. Ironically at US$238 Tivoli Audio are also giving US retailers more than 20% margin in the product which means that Dynamic Audio's take of the device is in excess of $300.
