  New Sennheiser Headphone Line-Up Unveiled

By Manisha Kanetkar | Wednesday | 26/09/2007

In the lead up to Christmas, headphone specialist Sennheiser has expanded its CX Classic, Street and Style range of earphones as well as its MX range, with new ear canal and lanyard earphones in a range of colours, with prices starting from as low as $14.95.

The new ear canal earphones – designed to remove ambient noise, up the bass and provide overall better sound due to their positioning in your ear – include the CX 400, CX 500, CX 55 Street and CX 95 Style ear canal headphones, as well as the CXL 400 lanyard earphones.

Each feature newly developed cords that Sennheiser says are even less sensitive to handling noise, and they also have exchangeable adapter rings to ensure a perfect fit in your ear.

The CX 500 is the new top-of-the-range model in the Classic line and comes in high gloss black, high gloss white and titanium. It stands out, the company says, for having a wider frequency response and special ear adapters which give the ear canal phones an even better fit. It comes with a pouch, cable clip, cord take-in device and volume adjuster on the cord.

The new ear canal Style model features a metallic look and has a balanced sound and detailed resolution for enhanced hearing comfort when you're on the move, the company says. It features a short cord but also comes with a 1m extension cable if you need it, as well as a pouch and ear adapters.

The popular MX Series headphones are now available in new colours including burgundy, acqua, shiny black, shiny white and titanium. They are complemented by a new range of accessories too.

MX 560

The entry level models MX 160, MX 260, MX 360 and MX 460 are designed for optimum comfort by means of their asymmetrical cable design. For listening to music on the go, Sennheiser suggest the new MXL 560 lanyard earphones with removable carry-loop for your MP3 player or mobile phone. Or if you prefer not to put your MP3 player on display, the MX 660 headphones integrate volume control in the cable, so you can store your player in your pocket.

Meanwhile, with the increase in popularity of mobile phones with inbuilt music players, Sennheiser has launched  the MX 760, which is fitted with a short cable, and can be connected directly to the speaker socket on the phone.

The new models are all due out in October. The CX400 range has an RRP of $129.95, while the CX500 range has an RRP of $149.95. The new MX range pricing starts from $14.95 RRP.
