During the months of February and March, customers will have the opportunity to purchase and trial a Dyson vacuum cleaner. If they are unsatisfied with the product by the end of a 30-day trial period, Dyson will take it back; if they are happy, Dyson will instead take back their old vacuum cleaner and recycle it for them.

"The Dyson recycling program has been in place for some time now to cater for customers who want to dispose of our products responsibly," said Ross Cameron, Managing Director of Dyson SEA. 

"But we want to take it to the next step and encourage our customer-base to recycle when it's time to upgrade; by opening this program to all machines during this promotion period, regardless of brand," he said.

In Australia, it is estimated 97 per cent of all end-of-life e-waste is being sent to landfill (compared to around 15 per cent in Europe).  

"When we hear e-waste, we automatically think of computers, printers and more recently televisions. But everyday appliances really need to be considered part of this as well," said Mr Cameron.
