An Expensive Kitchen Strictly For Men

By David Richards | Monday | 14/04/2008

Two of Germany leading brands Miele and Poggenpohl have teamed up at this year's DesignEx in Sydney to roll out a combined display of a new Porshe kitchen design to appeal to men and a new range of exclusive Miele appliances which will only be sold with the kitchen. And if you want to they will throw in a home theatre kit.

Revealed for the first time in the world at DesignEX the new kitchen is not cheap with the one on display worth around $180,000.

Recogniz ing that men are showing an increasing interest in developing the kitchen as part of their habitat, Porsche Design Group and Poggenpohl in Germany got together to design a kitchen that they believe would appeal to the male species.
Roland Heiler, Managing Director of the Porsche Design Studio said "Our studio has a lot of experience in designing kitchen and home appliances as well as furniture. In Poggenpohl we found a partner capable of implementing our idea of what a modern kitchen should look like."

He added "In recent years, kitchens have turned into more of an event and entertainment area frequently equipped with audio systems", explains Elmar Duffner, Managing Director of Poggenpohl. "Our co-operation with Porsche Design enabled us to design a kitchen that was sleek and functional and incorporated a home entertainment system"
Aluminum constitutes the basic framework of the new kitchen and within the aluminium frames customers can position cabinet elements any way they like said Colin Kippax, of Poggenpohl.
