AMX To Tango With New Distributed Audio Range

By Manisha Kanetkar | Monday | 10/09/2007

It is not just Crestron fighting for a share of the distributed audio market, AMX has also introduced a new multi-room audio range, called Tango, as well as a host of new controllers, keypads and Modero touch panels.

The Tango Distributed Audio range can be used in residential and business applications, and includes audio controllers, zone expanders and amplifiers.

One Tango Distributed Audio System accommodates eight sources with distribution to four or eight zones; though the system can be expanded for larger homes and businesses.

Using the Tango Zone Expanders and Amplifiers, the system can support as many as 64 zones with up to 24 speakers per zone, the company says.

And the system doesn't need to be hidden away behind cabinet doors, claims AMX, as it has been built with style in mind, so it can be displayed along with source equipment such as a CD player or iPod dock.

The audio system can be controlled with AMX's new Metreau Audio Keypads, which are available in two configurations – six-source with navigation and numeric – or an AMX Mio Modero R-1 Audio Remote.

And the Tango line can be combined with AMX's new NetLinx Integrated Controller, if you need to integrate the audio into a broader home control system.

The products, which were unveiled at the CEDIA Expo in the USA, were complemented by the launch of what AMX claims is the world's first communicating thermostat featuring a colour display and its first its first Voice and Video over IP (V2IP)-enabled door communication and entry system..

The Tango range is due in Australia in March 2008, while the other products will be available in February 2008.
