  Crestron Announces 2-Way WiFi Handheld

By Caroline Warnes | Tuesday | 20/06/2006

Crestron has announced the planned release of the TPMC-4X WiFi Handheld Touchpanel, offering complete two-way WiFi communication.

The device can be used to control AV, lighting, HVAC, shades and screens. According to the company's newsletter: "Full two-way WiFi communication allows users to view and set temperature in any room; confirm and adjust lighting levels and monitor lobby entrances… (or) control an audio server or an Apple iPod remotely."

It will operate on the 802.11b wireless standard and features a 3.5-inch touchscreen and 17 programmable pushbuttons. The screen features 16-bit colour graphics, dynamic text and graphics and translucency.

The TPMC-4X has also been designed to stream video so uses can view footage from security cameras and other video sources.

The TPMC-4X is scheduled for release in the US in July and is expected to be launched locally during August.
