If you are looking for a really impressive luxury car that has German automotive finesse and performance as well as the latest in entertainment and communication technology the answer could well be an Audi A8 and a combination of a new Samsung MP3 phone and a new B&O sound system. In another step toward a future of "ubiquitous" connectivity, Samsung has demonstrated an Audi hooked up with MP3 mobile phone and B&O sound system. How it works is simple. Through a Bluetooth system one can immediately play MP 3 files stored in the phones 30 GB of memory across to a new generation Bang & Olufsen car audio system in the new Audi A8. Demonstrated at Audi's corporate headquarters in Germany last week, the new Samsung D600 phone which should hit world markets in the second half of 2005 is set to revolutionise car entertainment and communication. Audio who have dumped the Bose sound system for its flagship A8 has been working with Danish hi-fi and electronics specialist Bang & Olufsen to develop a brand new automotive sound system for the Audi A8. The first vehicle with the "B & O Sound System" on board was shown at the recent Frankfurt IAA Motor Show 2005. The system will be available in Australia in 2006.
Over the years Audi, who are a market leader in Europe ahead of BMW, has been responsible for developing leading edge technology such as the Quattro 4 wheel drive system Now their technological lead is according to motoring experts, being extended into the automotive entertainment area through a relationship with Bang & Olufsen a company that is also developing an advanced automotive video system for motor cars. The new B&O advanced automotive audio system which was developed exclusively for the A8 has been designed to take into account acoustic characteristics of a car interior as well as internal space, shape and materials. Factors such as driving speed, the corresponding wind effect and friction between asphalt and tyres has also been taken into account.
