Pioneer Unveils New Premium In-Car Navigation Unit

By SmartHouse Staff | Thursday | 13/03/2008

Pioneer has been steadily expanding its AVIC in-car navigation range and is set to launch a combo integrated/portable GPS device, and now it has launched a new premium in-car navigation solution.

The new unit (AVIC-F900BT) is an all-in-one entertainment and navigation device that is designed to be installed into your car's dash.

It offers Bluetooth, USB and SD connectivity and can play multiple audio and video formats and can be linked to PCs. There is an optional reversing camera as well.

Pioneer sees the future of navigation as integrated into the vehicles dash. Integrated navigation will eventually become standard in all vehicles just like CD players and radios have now become.

"We don't take portable radios and CD players into the car, in the future the same will apply with portable GPS devices .There are many benefits associated with a combined AV and GPS system such as the AVIC-F900BT. It is easier and safer to use, connects to other gadgets and features powerful navigational guidance," said Paul Baddeley, Product Planning Manager Pioneer Mobile Entertainment Group

The unit sports a 5.8-inch touch screen and comes in built with Whereis mapping. It offers voice guidance and text-to-speech functions.

From the entertainment perspective, there is a built-in DVD player which is accessible even while navigating, while all audio is powered through Pioneer's 4X50W MOSFET amplifier and delivered through the vehicle's speakers.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed.
