  TomTom SatNav Finds Cheapest Petrol

By Mike Wheeler | Wednesday | 08/10/2008

Launched in Britain recently, TomTom’s new Live service has been built into three of its latest products, with part of the service telling you where the cheapest petrol can be located.

These new units will have a built-in mobile internet connection, which is how users will get the latest information on bowser prices.

TomTom's Australian marketing manager Chris Kearney went to the launch a couple of weeks ago in Europe, and says the new service works a treat. And what about its availability in Australia?

"No comment," said Kearney, although he did add a qualification, "everything happens eventually." Whether that means we are going to get the SatNavs and/or the Live service, who knows. In the UK, Live does cost an annual fee, so one hopes the savings on the petrol will be more than the fee, to make it worthwhile.
