  Garmin Scores BMW Navigation Deal

By David Richards | Monday | 14/01/2008

Garmin International has scored a major deal with BMW with the announcement that the company will develop a custom Nuvi 360 portable-navigation solution for the BMW 1 and 3 Series.

The device will be offered as a dealer option and will have a customized bracket that allows owners to mount the Nuvi directly on the instrument panel, rather than the windshield. The bracket also eliminates the problem of dangling wires as it is powered by the BMW's onboard network. "It integrates seamlessly into the vehicle," said Roger Jollis, Garmin OEM and mobile marketing director.

The BMW custom Nuvi will bear the BMW logo on the case and in the opening welcome screen and will include a database of BMW dealers. The device has a 3.5-inch screen with street-name guidance, Bluetooth, MP3 player and audio-book player
