BEST OF BEST AWARDS 2008 / PORTABLE DEVICES

We Pick The Best Portable Device For 2008

By Manisha Kanetkar | Thursday | 13/12/2007

Portable Devices is a category that encompasses all the tools we need or want for every day living. And to be portable, a device must be sleek, slim, light and ultimately useful – there should be a reason why we want to carry it around everywhere. And while we have seen some truly interesting developments in portable music and video gear, cameras and games consoles this year, we found the biggest innovator in the category to be portable GPS navigation devices.

The new GPS devices now pack real-time traffic updates along with a host of other features to make our day-to-day life easier.
This is also the category that will be most handy to you if you are travelling this summer.

BEST OVERALL PORTABLE DEVICE

Winner:
Navman S90i

The Navman S90i comes with a bright 4.3-inch widescreen and is packed with features like Text-to-Speech, Bluetooth capabilities, and NavPix function that allow a user to navigate to a place with pictures. The unit also comes with a built-in traffic receiver, making it ready for the Suna Traffic Service when it comes available in 2008. And should an emergency arise and you need to go to the nearest hospital, it is always good to know that the S90i comes with an SOS shortcut.
