We Pick The Best Vision Product For 2008

By Manisha Kanetkar | Thursday | 13/12/2007

Blacks got blacker, processing got smoother, screen sizes got larger, resolution became 1080p and lots more happened in this category this year. The introduction of 100Hz technology in LCD TVs produced crisper, smoother images than before. 1080p projectors became more affordable than ever, and with new plasma technology such as that found in Pioneer’s new Kuro plasmas, blacks are almost out of sight – literally. This is also the year that mounting solutions have gone from a sleeper category to a real hot seller – no surprises, we need a smart way of displaying our TVs.

You might be surprised to see an electronic program guide winning the Best Vision Product award, but we think the Iceguide is truly innovative. A local company, IceTV has dared to go where no other company has gone – taken on Channel 9 – come off victorious – giving us a free-to-air electronic TV guide to use with PVRs or media centre PCs. The Iceguide makes recording your favourite free-to-air programs that much easier, and it comes at a price that is very reasonable.
