The 2008 CEDIA Expo in the US has kicked off with several vendors rolling out new products including a new generation of  IP enabled plasma TV's that come with built in storage to several vendors delivering a new wave of Poweline multi room audio.
Unlike Australia journalists covering the CEDIA Expo in Australia journalists were allowed access to the show floor prior to the show opening. Organisers also facilitated a media room and power outlets and wireless broadband for journalists.

Panasonic used the event to reveal the industry's first internet enabled TVs, including a 65" inch model that provides access to on-line content directly from the television with new VIERA CAST technology which is described as a revolutionary new feature that streams web content directly a HD TV without the need for an external box or a PC.

he consumer can access the unlimited YouTube(TM) library, share digital photos from Picasa(TM) Web Albums with friends and family, get local weather updates and gain access to financial data from Bloomberg. There is no fee for VIERA CAST and the feature automatically updates itself as new web content becomes available.

Some products revealed at the Denver show showed just how far behind Australia are when it comes to technology and content.
