  Foxtel Crushed By Sevens Gladiators

By Branko Miletic | Monday | 14/04/2008

According to the latest figures from Seven Network Research, some 1.579 million people watched the premier of Gladiators last week, along with 1.082 million for My Name is Earl, 1.084 million watched Grey’s Anatomy, some 1.077 million watching All Saints with 1.799 million for Border Security and another 1.232 million watching Desperate Housewives.

Compare this with the figures for pay TV ( Foxtel Optus & Austar), where it shows that all the combined rugby league games only managed to garner some 912,000 viewers- of which the Roosters v Panthers game attracted the most viewers for the networks, peaking at about 220,000.

Furthermore the AFL didn't rate that well either for pay-to-view broadcasters giving them a total figure of some 332,000 viewers.

So while Channel Seven continues its rating surge with numbers like Today Tonight (1.397 million), Home and Away (1.346 million) and RSPCA Animal Rescue (1.561 million), the pay channels collect the crumbs by running old repeats of Are You Being Served which managed to get about 25,000 viewers.

Worse still, Border Security for example on Foxtel got about 42,000 viewers as opposed to nearly 1.8 million on Channel 7.
