Tech Goods EBay Retailer Goes Bust Owing Millions

By Computer Daily News & David Richards | Wednesday | 30/07/2008

Consumers who purchased consumer electronic goods from an EBay online trader are set to be compensated millions by both PayPal Australia and credit card companies after the retailer went bust selling consumer electronic goods such as universal remotes, HD cables AV and iPod accesories.

SV Partners has been appointed as liquidator for the Queensland-based company, which was registered as EBS International but traded on eBay under the name Ebusiness-supplies. It was wound up last week.

The company was reportedly Australia's seventh largest seller on eBay was also offering goods such as vibrator armchairs, exercise equipment, electric guitars and sound systems. It was reported to have had sales in
excess of $15 million last year.

Ebusiness-supplies has reportedly sent a letter to customers saying it will not be able to complete any current orders. It has blamed an agent in Hong Kong for failing to ship a container. Principles of the Company have apparently fled to China.
