Use Bluetooth To Print In August

By Manisha Kanetkar | Wednesday | 02/08/2006

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has declared August “Bluetooth Print Month” in an effort to get consumers to use Bluetooth technology to print their photos.

One of the oft-overlooked functions of Bluetooth technology is that of printing, Bluetooth SIG officials say. "However, due to the rising popularity of camera phones and newly-introduced Bluetooth cameras such as the Kodak V610, printing photos is becoming increasingly easier.

"Consumers can also print digital photos to in-store kiosks via Bluetooth technology. Beyond photo printing, Bluetooth printers and Bluetooth dongles for printers are available to outfit the home or office environment for quick and easy wireless printing. To help consumers recognize the benefits and attributes of Bluetooth printing, the Bluetooth SIG has declared August "Bluetooth Print Month." The Bluetooth SIG encourages consumers to be on the lookout for the print icon on device packaging which ensures compatibility between two devices," the Group said in a statement.
