  High-Tech Features For Compact Camera

By Mike Wheeler | Monday | 01/09/2008

Like most compact cameras released recently, the FinePix F60fd is full of features including Scene Recognition technology, dual-image stabilisation and a 12-megapixel super CCD sensor.
Other features of the Fujifilm Finepix include ISO 100-1600 sensitivity at full resolution, (3200 at 6MP and 6400 at 3MP) and Fujinon 3x optical zoom (35-105mm equivalent).

"As well as offering the option of full photographic control, the FinePix F60fd can accommodate those consumers who are happy to rely on auto mode for simple, fuss- free photography," said Senior Category Manager – Consumer & Professional Products, Matt Dole. "The FinePix F60fd also includes brand new Scene Recognition technology (SR-AUTO) which cleverly detects a scene without needing to pre-select it as a mode on the camera.

It is also equipped with Face Detection 3.0 technology, which brings it into line with competitive brands that have just been released by Canon and Nikon. This new unit has the ability to recognise photos at more extreme angles, with up to 90-degree movement in either direction for profiles as well as rotations of up to 360 degrees. Face Detection 3.0 can detect up to 10 faces in a scene in as little as 0.036 seconds and automatically correct focus, exposure and white balance regardless of where subjects are located in the frame.

As well as offering high ISO performance for avoiding subject blur when shooting in low light conditions, the FinePix F60fd also features CCD-shift image stabilisation to avoid the effects of camera shake at longer shutter speeds. This combination avoids blur caused by hand shake or subject motion.

This unit is fitted with a 230,000 dot 3.0-inch LCD screen which offers easy photo viewing at oblique angles to the screen, a new sort by date system and micro thumbnail view to display up to 100 photos at once. It also has a powerful automatic retouching system which gives skin tones a silky smooth texture and removes blemishes such as spots and wrinkles.

Other features include a movie mode with sound; auto flash, self-timer; 13 pre-programmed scene modes and xD/SD/SD-HC slot. Accessories include Li-ion battery NP-50; battery charger BC-50; hand strap; USB and A/V cables; CD-Rom; FinePix viewer and owner's manual.
