Samsung Launches Largest Range Of Digital Cameras

By Manisha Kanetkar | Tuesday | 23/10/2007

Samsung has launched a bumper new line up of digital cameras – the largest range for Samsung in Australia to date. The new camera ranges includes a travel-focused range of cameras which offer a built-in travel guidebook.

The new i Series consists of the i7 and i85, the former is a 7.2 megapixel camera, the latter an 8 megapixel camera. An interesting feature of both is the inbuilt Samsung World Tour Guide. Supported by free software available at www.samsung.com/au, the World Tour Guide has information on 2,600 famous attractions in over 30 countries.

"The i Series offers more than just a camera. It represents the next step in digital technology convergence," said Samsung's Stephen Jacobs.

Besides the travel features, the cameras also feature a music player functionality, as well as video recording and in-camera editing.

Next up in the new line up is the flagship NV Series, which is aimed at the photography enthusiast. Featuring Schneider-Kreuznach lens and a touch LCD display, the NV8, NV15 and NV20 cameras offer 8.1, 10.1 and 12.1 megapixel resolution.

"The NV Series is designed for the camera enthusiast who enjoys taking semi-professional photographs in a range of conditions," said Jacobs. "In addition to Samsung's long history of manufacturing cameras, we are now the third most popular camera manufacturer in the world and are pleased to be able to provide consumers with a high quality product. The NV Series is the perfect camera for consumers who are looking to upgrade to a new, feature-rich camera."

Rounding out the new range is the fashion conscious L Series which is just over 2cm thick and is designed for people who want a point-and-shoot camera on the go. The top of the range model also includes the World Tour Guide software too.

The new product launch is also the first since taking the distribution of digital still cameras in house last month. While Samsung has been making digital still cameras for about 27 years, in Australia the cameras were distributed by a separate company, ADEAL Australia. The company brought the distribution in house in August, and this is the first range to be distributed from there.
