  Panasonic Launches Ultra-Slim Digital Camera

By Manisha Kanetkar | Wednesday | 14/02/2007

Complementing the launch of its new high definition camcorders is a new range of digital cameras including a compact camera which Panasonic claims is the world’s slimmest digicam with a 28mm wide-angle lens.

Also in the new line up is an update on the company's "travel camera" range; the TZ3 and TZ2. These feature a serious 10x optical zoom and 28mm Leica lens. The lens cap is incorporated into the body – so no fiddling around with external lens caps. Featuring a number of new modes – such as Pet, Sunset, Beach or Aerial, the new cameras are compatible with SDHC memory cards.

The "world's slimmest" camera with the 28mm wide-angle lens (FX30) offers 7.2 megapixel resolution, 3.6 x optical zoom (equivalent to 28 – 100mm on a 35mm film camera) and f/2.8 brightness, Panasonic says.

Rounding out the range are an additional two compact cameras, a slim compact with a 6x zoom as well as a new entry-level camera (LS70). The latter features the proprietary dual image stabilisation and Intelligent ISO Control, 7.2 megapixel CCD, a 3x zoom and is powered by AA batteries.

All the models will be available by late March.

RRP:
TZ3 – $769
TZ2 – $659
FX30 – $659
LS70 – $309
