According to the Olympus, the Tough Smart 1050SW enables a user to take photos underwater and in outdoor situations where photography was previously considered difficult. This new line comes with new body colours (Silver Bullet, Panther, Blue Thunder, Dusk, and Sandstorm), a sliding lens barrier, and features a 10.1-megapixel camera sensor and an Olympus TruePic III image processor that suppresses noise, smoothes edges, and assures accurate reproduction of colours.
The Tough Smart 1050SW is dustproof and waterproof to a depth of 3 meters, can withstand drops of up to 1.5-meters, and can operate at temperatures as low as -10°C. The camera also comes with a Face detect and Shadow Adjust feature that can recognise up to 16 individual faces, assuring correct exposure of both people in the foreground and scenery in the background.
