The hard-disk-drive-based Everios — the GZ-HD6 and HD5 — can record video at 1,920 by 1080i in x.v.Color using the MPEG-2 format, the company said. Recorded video can be up-converted to 1080p/60 fps via an HDMI 1.3 output. Video can also be up-converted using the Everio Share Station DVD burner.
The HD6, sports a 120GB hard drive, while the HD5 offers 60GB worth of capacity. Both will offer slots for microSD cards for adding extra recording capacity. The new models are expected in Australia soon.
Additional shared features include a 10x Fujinon HD optical zoom lens with optical stabilization, a microphone input, manual controls, and bundled software for DVD and Blu-ray Disc authoring.
The HD6, available in black, adds a lens hood and headphone jack. The HD5 will be sold in silver.
