The two-new cameras (MD120 and MD160) feature 35x optical zoom and Canon's proprietary image stabiliser technology to minimise hand shaking. While the DiG!C DV image processor, Canon says, offers accurate, brilliant colours for both video and photo capture.
"Families and first-time video camera users want a camera that's straightforward and intuitive. The MD120 and MD160 meet these needs," says Canon's Tamara Hohnberg.
The top end model also features a ‘QuickStart' button which starts the camera up in under 0.7 seconds. This function also switches the camera into standby mode and automatically turns off after 30 minutes of non-activity to preserve battery-life.
Canon has also incorporated a level marker and a 9-point grid to guide beginners in their filming. And you can capture your footage looking at the 2.7 inch LCD or via the .35 inch colour viewfinder.
