Microsoft Is Going To Need More Than A Food Salesman To Fix Xbox Problems

By David Richards | Tuesday | 11/12/2007

Microsoft is going to need more than a new salesman if it is to stay competitive in the gaming console market. Late last week Microsoft who this year have had to face up to claims that 30% of their Xbox 360 consoles were duds, appointed a Nestle former food executive Sean Davies as their new Entertainment Devices sales director in an effort to bolster retail sales for their fledgling console and gaming software.

The big hit for the Company this year was the release of Halo 3 ,yet despite this Microsoft is suffering at the hands of Sony with both the Sony PS2 and Playstation 3 models. At the same time Nintendo with their Wii is struggling to keep up with demand.

Despite the fact that Microsoft had about a year's head start in the gaming console market over Nintendo and Sony as it released Xbox 360 in November 2005. Nintendo Wii in December 2006  and Sony PS3 came out in February 2007 and due to the short supply of consoles from Nintendo and Sony last year, many expected the 2007 holiday season to be the true indicator of which console will win the hearts, minds and wallets of consumers. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case as there are still threats of limited supply of the Wii.
