The new GeForce Go 7800 GTX chipset is based on the desktop version, and means that a portable games machine is finally a reality, and can produce notebooks that won't look out of place at the local LAN party.
"NVIDIA is leading the industry in delivering the ‘no compromise' notebook PC – all the graphics and video performance of a desktop PC with the portability of a notebook PC," said Rob Csongor, general manager of notebook GPUs at NVIDIA. "
Based on the award-winning desktop PC version, the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX GPU features a completely redesigned architecture which delivers a number of groundbreaking achievements, including:
·
; Brand new programmable shader architecture, delivering twice the shading horsepower of the previous generation notebook GPUs
· Support for the latest games and applications with DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0 and Film Quality HDR, the must have feature for developers delivering more realism to Real-Time Gaming
· NVIDIA PowerMizer™ technology, advanced power management to maximize battery life is achieved in the same power budget as the previous generation GPUs, the result is less heat generated with maximum battery life
· Second-generation NVIDIA PureVideo™ technology, allows users to experience home theatre quality video on the notebook PC
The new chipset follows the release of NVIDIA's first motherboard with HD TV capability onboard, the 6150, with support for HD outputs such as component-out without the need for a breakout box – which is a boon for Media Center PCs.
