Sony Pulls The Plug On PS3 Firmware Upgrade User Complaints

PS3 users who downloaded and installed the new 2.40 version of the Sony firmware upgrade are complaining that their consoles are hanging when being rebooted. As a result, Sony has canned the upgrade and removed it from their site according to a company announcement.

Following yesterday's release of the update, the official PlayStation forums were hit with numerous complaints from owners claiming that their PS3 would hang on the opening "wave" screen following the installation.

Sony Computer Entertainment has made no announcements in Australia.

In the USA Sony has responded on its official blog with a statement saying that it is currently trying to isolate the problem and find a solution before making the firmware available again.
