Sony Price Gouge In OZ With PS3

By David Richards | Tuesday | 14/10/2008

Sony who is selling the most expensive games console in Australia will not cut prices this Xmas despite major price cuts for the Microsoft Xbox 360.

Renowned for price gouging in Australia Sony Computer Entertainment are currently selling the Sony PS3 with 80GB of storage for $699. In the US Amazon.com is selling the same console for US $399. Even when the dollar went to $0.96 Sony refused to cut the price of their gaming console.

Yesterday Sony's CEO said that Sony would not lower the price of the Sony PS3 console. They claim that the Sony PS3 is a better value than rivals half its price. The Xbox 360 is currently selling on digitalhome.com.au for $414.

In Australia Sony has not been able to beat the highly popular Nintendo Wii which sells for around $399.
