Dirt Cheap Blu Ray Units Coming
In the same way that white box PCs drove down the price of PCs, a new generation of black box Blu-ray players that could be as low as $150, is set to hit retailers in Australia. In the US, the price war has already kicked in with Vizio offering their VBR100 for $200. Lite-On is set to top that with a $150 unit later this month.

  Panasonic Launches Blu-ray Disc Recorder

Panasonic has launched a national advertising campaign to promote Panasonic’s new Blu-ray Disc Recorder - the first and only stand alone device of its kind to be launched in Australia.

A new TVC for the unit uses Hollywood-style cinematic effects to create the scene of a jail-break. The TVC depicts two criminals successfully breaking out of jail only to find themselves still trapped inside the TV. They discover an escape route when a Blu-Ray disc is inserted into the recorder connected to the television. The TVC cleverly demonstrates the ability for viewers to record HD TV programs to disc.
Leading the way in innovation in Full High Definition (FHD) technology, the DMR-BW500 comes with a twin HD tuner and 500GB hard disk drive it is the ideal one-box solution for any home.
