Dirt Cheap Blu Ray Units Coming
In the same way that white box PCs drove down the price of PCs, a new generation of black box Blu-ray players that could be as low as $150, is set to hit retailers in Australia. In the US, the price war has already kicked in with Vizio offering their VBR100 for $200. Lite-On is set to top that with a $150 unit later this month.

Hybrid Blu-ray Media Player Hits Oz

Multimedia player reseller and distributor, HDcity, has released a Blu-ray player that can play media files stored on a USB drive or network-attached device.

The HDI Dune Prime comes with an integrated Blu-Ray player that allows for multi-region Blu-Ray and DVD playback of retail discs. In addition, the Prime claims to support modern video file formats such as (MKV, H.264, VC1), BD iso, M2TS with very high bitrate (up to 50 Mbit/s and higher), and can stream video files via Ethernet.

The HDI Prime also allows a user to view IPTV, net TV & radio as well as enabling torrent downloads.

The HDI PRIME 3.0 is available for purchase at www.hdcity.com.au for $599.90.
