The first Blu-ray player with Final Standard Profile is now on the market in US from Panasonic, with a variety of enhanced features from previous Blu-ray players including picture-in-picture and audio mixing, according to a report from Twice.
The next-generation DMP-BD30 is a full HD 1080p player which also features a unique SD Memory Card slot for playback of HD content recorded in AVCHD format, along with viewing digital still images stored on the card.
The picture-in-picture function allows users to watch a second image in a sub window on their TV screen, which can either display an alternate TV channel or a variety of entertainment enhancements including video of the actor performing their character's voice-over if the viewer is watching a cartoon, or the actor might pop up to discuss the making of the scene currently playing.
Panasonic Australia hasn't revealed at this stage if the DMP-BD30 will be available in Australia, though SmartHouse has heard an independent report that the unit will be shipping as early as February next year.
The US version's audio mixing feature allows the consumer to switch the sound between the main and sub windows, adding more functionality to the picture-in-picture window.
