From 1 October until 31 December 2007, Australian consumers who purchase from a select range of Blu-ray players from Panasonic, Pioneer, Samsung, Sharp or Sony can choose as a bonus, one movie from each of five Blu-ray supporting Hollywood studios.
The Working Group says these competitive companies have teamed up for the first time for this promotion to boost the format. The Group also boasts that Blu-ray already the most popular next-generation format for high definition entertainment in Australia based on figures from GfK stating 87.3 percent of films sold in Q2 2007 were Blu-ray Disc compared to only 12.7 percent in HD-DVD.
"There has never been a better time to get on board with Blu-ray," said Australian Blu-ray Disc Working Group Chair, Michele Garra.
"This offer demonstrates how broad the support is for this format from leading hardware manufacturers and studios to enable Australians to experience the future of home entertainment in their lounge rooms right now. With so many phenomenal Blu-ray players on the market and a further 50 Blu-ray titles being released before the end of the year, this is the perfect opportunity to bring Blu-ray home for Christmas," she said.
