Olympians Push Latest Panasonic Roll Out

By Mike Wheeler | Wednesday | 28/05/2008

Aussie Olympians Matt Shirvington, Tamsyn Lewis, Bronte Barratt and Ky Hurst have signed up as the faces of Panasonic for the 2008 Beijing Olympics

The Japanese Company are using the athletes to push its latest offerings in Blu-ray, plasma and LCD TV, and portable DVD technologies rolled out at its 2008 launch in Sydney, today. The Olympians will appear in ads and short vignettes that demonstrate how technology supports the athletes and the Games itself.

Shirvington is one of Australia's most well known track and field athletes. He held the Australian National sprint title from 1998 until 2002, claiming five consecutive Australian national titles for the 100m sprint event.

Lewis is a Commonwealth Gold medalist, dual Olympian and current 800M Indoor World Champion. She is competing in both the women's 400m and 800m track events at this year's Olympic Games.

Barratt will be competing at her first Olympic Games in the 200m and 400m freestyle swimming events. She holds the Commonwealth record for 400m and is ranked second in the world in the 200m. Bronte will also be an Ambassador for Panasonic's global Kid Witness News (KWN) program. The program provides primary and secondary school students with equipment and guidance to direct, shoot, and star in a five minute video.

Hurst, the only man ever to win seven Australian Ironman titles, is competing in the 10km Open Water Swimming event, a new event at the Games.
