Sony Australia has announced new pricing cuts for its Bravia LCD TV range in the lead up to the Christmas peak shopping period, with the entry level price for a 40-inch 1080p Full HD Bravia LCD TV down from $3,499 in September to just $3,199.
The company is also predicting a ‘Full HD Christmas', claiming leadership in the 40 to 49-inch display category, which is 47 per cent of the total Australian TV market in value for September 2007, according to Sony.
"LCD continues to be the number one panel choice for Australian consumers looking to purchase a high definition flat screen TV. The latest Sony HD Benchmark, independently compiled by GfK Marketing Services, revealed that three times as many HD LCD TVs were sold (204,968) in Australia than HD plasma TVs (71,555) for the period April to June 2007," says Sony.
"From the results, the advantages LCD offers over plasma are proving clear to consumers, with LCD TVs having a higher native picture resolution, less power consumption and no issue with screen burn-in."
