Austar To Carry Ten In Overlap Areas

By Sarah Falson | Friday | 26/10/2007

Austar units will carry Network Ten’s digital signal in metropolitan/regional ‘overlap’ areas when its new MySTAR service launches.

Customers who use Austar's new set-top boxes equipped with dual digital terrestrial tuners will be able to view Ten's standard definition digital service seamlessly, and they will also have access to Ten's schedule and program details via Austar's electronic program guide (EPG), says Ten.

Also, then it launches, Ten will have "full functionality" on the MySTAR personal digital recorder, says the company.

According to Ten CEO, Grant Blackley, this will expand the use of digital television.

"TEN has always supported the concept of dual tuner set top boxes, particularly in regional areas where there simply isn't enough satellite capacity to carry the various terrestrial television services," he said.
