Now that it has buried HD DVD, the triumphant Blu-ray manufacturers seem to be pushing up player prices as it becomes apparent that it is the only high definition disc format left in the marketplace.
However the Blu-ray player manufacturers vehemently deny increasing the recommended retail price on their products, blaming the five per cent increase on the major retailers, as it is the individual retailers that generally set pricing on their products.
However according to a spokesman for retailer Bing Lee, the prices of Blu-ray players at their stores have remained stable and in fact says the spokesman, "we think soon they will start coming down again."
