Panasonic Rolls Out New DVD Recorder Range

By Mendelson Tiu | Friday | 17/08/2007

The next-gen version of the VCR, DVD recorders offer the ability to record your favourite TV shows to watch later, and the new range from Panasonic promise 1080p upscaling on all your content.

The company is introducing three new DVD Recorders this year, all including a digital tuner for direct recording of digital TV broadcasts and HDMI and Viera Link to simplify the connection and control of other home theatre devices and provide high quality audio and video playback.

Panasonic claims that when linked to an HDTV via an HDMI cable, its new DVD Recorders have i/p conversion and 1080p up-conversion functions that optimise SD signals from DVD discs or the recorders' hard disk drive.  The recorders also offer Panasonic's VIERA Link functions for linked operation of other AV devices.

Suppose that while you are watching one TV program, you decide that you want to play a previously recorded program, or set the unit to record a future broadcast.  Simply press the Viera Link button and the TV screen switches to the Viera Link menu screen.  After selecting the DVD Recorder on the menu screen, it allows you to set timer recordings or use playback functions on the fly.

If you want to review previously recorded content, simply press ‘Playback' once the DVD Recorder menu appears on your TV screen. Video thumbnails of recorded content will then appear on the screen.  Select the desired thumbnail and playback will begin immediately. When you want to program your DVD Recorder to record a broadcast, select ‘Recording' when the menu appears on your TV screen.  You can select the desired channel and set up the recording easily.
