Philips Wireless Soundbars With Surround Sound

By Mike Wheeler | Tuesday | 01/07/2008

Philips has announced the release of the HTS8140 and HTS6100 soundbars, featuring proprietary Ambisound technology, which help the systems deliver a multi-channel surround sound experience from a single speaker unit and subwoofer.

A part of Philips Design Collection, the HTS8140 fits effortlessly with any Philips Design Collection LCD TV. The slim soundbar has a flatter speaker system with refinement of the angled driver positioning and touch screen controls. The HTS8140 also uses Philips FullSound, which is a dedicated Digital Signal Processor that enhances compressed MP3 audio file quality.

Standard format DVD discs are enhanced via true high definition video upscaling, which delivers 1080p video output. Also included is the latest Faroudja DCDi technology, which produces sharp, high quality video.

The HTS Soundbar series also includes EasyLink, allowing for easy control of connected devices via HDMI CEC. Portable personal music player functionality is optimised with the inclusion of an iPod dock for media playback with on-screen control. Connectivity is further augmented with a built-in USB Link, which enables photos and music output from USB flash drives. An MP3 Link allows consumers to play music from other portable music players.

 RRP

HTS8140 $1199.00

HTS6100 $999.000
