Sony Goes Stylish With Home Theatre

By Caroline Warnes | Friday | 20/10/2006

Sony has unveiled two new home theatre systems that it claims offer stylish looks and flexibility at an affordable price.

The DAVFXGK (RRP $1399), which is available now, offers four different choices of speaker formation so it can be adapted to different room layouts and dimensions.

It uses Sony's DCAC technology to detect the arrangement of speakers in any layout and adjusts them automatically to optimise the sound.

S-Force technology is employed to reduce the setup to two speakers and a subwoofer instead of four speakers, which creates a sound fairly close to 5.1 surround.

There is also a CD/DVD player with an FM/AM tuner and an auxiliary-in port as well as a digital amplifier.

The DAVFH1 system (RRP $2999), out in November, features video upscaling to either 720p or 1080i through its HDMI interface.

This system boasts five flat-panel speakers and a subwoofer as well as a top-loading DVD, CD or SACD player, an FM/AM tuner and a digital amplifier.
