  Will Laser TV Ever Eventuate?

By Sarah Falson | Tuesday | 09/10/2007

Australians may now have to wait until at least Christmas 2008 for the roll-out of laser TV, which has been touted by Australian investor Arasor as the next big thing in flatscreen technology capable of rivalling plasma and LCD.
According to Arasor vice president, Scott Wilkie, Mitsubishi – the major company backing the technology – could launch laser TV models as early as Christmas this year in the US with Australia to launch 12 to 18 months later than the "important markets" like the US, in Mitsubishi's words.

According to manufacturers laser TV could pop plasma out of the top spot for screen sizes over 40 inches.

Arasor is a developer of integrated optoelectronic and wireless solutions in Australia and in conjunction with a US-based company called Novalux it manufactures a key component of the laser TV which enhances the image quality and performance of the technology along with delivering rich content to consumers.

"Laser TV is a 15 to 20-year-old idea that hasn't until now had the technology available to launch," Wilkie told SmartHouse News.
