"It has perfect colour reproduction, and this is not a term I use lightly," said Rigg, who calibrated the C3X1080 projector for launch display on the Stewart projector screen used in the Fox Entertainment Quarter's Director's Suite at Hoyts Cinema.
"I have worked with projectors that cost $250,000 and this exceeds their performance," he said.
The four projectors introduced at today's event included the entry-level Domino10 (RRP $3,999) which launched earlier this month; the Domino 80E 1080p with UNISHAPE lamp technology and a new BrilliantColor colour wheel (RRP $11,999); the Grand Cinema HT380 1080p DLP with a short- or long-throw lens (RRP $15,999/16,999); and the C3X1080 3-chip DLP projector (RRP $44,999).
The launch was headed-up by Audio Products Group product manager for projectors, Steve Krinks, who said Sim2 projectors fused together the four main areas of performance according to industry expert group SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) – contrast, colour saturation, colour accuracy and resolution.
