1080p Projector Blends Sharpness With Black Depth

By Mike Wheeler | Monday | 13/10/2008

A new home theatre projected uses a single-chip DLP front projection system based on the 1080p DarkChip3 0.95-inch DMD chipset from Texas Instruments, and a 200-Watt UHP lamp.

DLP projection is said to have great colour reproduction, high ANSI contrast, and depth of image delivers great natural picture quality.

The Domino 60 projector sports Dual Iris to enhance contrast and detail in shadows. The variable iris is linked to three different preset viewing modes (Cinema, Dynamic, Standard) and three customisable memory slots. It widens and narrows to produce the exact amount of light necessary to match the selected mode. Additionally, Texas Instruments' DynamicBlack digitally examines source video and modulates iris aperture based on the level of light shown on screen.

The Domino 60 blends outstanding sharpness with good black depth, reaching a contrast ratio of up to >10.000:1. Ease of set up is claimed; with powered vertical lens shift (+60%/-40%) on offer, installation of Domino 60 is said simple and straightforward.

The Domino 60 offers a range of picture-size and aspect compatibilities, including pixel-for-pixel and anamorphic modes, enabling use of an anamorphic lens for 2.35:1 ‘Cinemascope' capability. Signal inputs cover all home and pro needs with composite, S-video, component, RGBHV, and twin HDMI inputs.

Control of the product can be carried out using the supplied IR handset or via third-party control systems such as Crestron or AMX via its RS-232 control port, making it ideal for custom installations. A 12V trigger output can be used for triggering motorised screens or masking systems.
