  Teac Digital Recording Wonder

By Rob Gillam | Thursday | 11/05/2006

Teac’s new PVR-160T standard-definition set-top box (STB) incorporates a digital recorder with room for around 45 hours of digital broadcast-quality recording.

Digital STBs enable viewers to watch high-quality digital video and sound on a display of choice, including analogue TVs. The PVR-160T ($599) enables one to pause live TV, whilst answering the phone, for example, and return to resume playback at leisure.

Teac says retrieval of recorded programs is easy.  Simply press one button to view a list directly on the television screen and choose.
Additional features include the ability to record closed captioning, which will be appreciated by hearing-impaired users.

A USB port allows PC connectivity for transfer of photos, software upgrades and MP3 music – the latter converting the PVR-160T into a home music player.  Digital Audio (such as Dolby Digital, when available) may be passed to your home theatre with either a coaxial or optical S/PDIF connection. Other connectivity includes RGB SCART, component video, S-video and composite.

The PVR-160T has a 12 month warranty.
