  Pricey Escient Servers Upscale To 1080p

Escient’s two new server/players provide users with the ability to play and import all their movies, videos, music and photos using the front-panel drive and home networks, as well as the ability to up-convert videos to 1080p.

Both the VS-100 and the VS-200 offer consumers an elegant new solution for managing, accessing and enjoying movies and music throughout the home, all via the intuitive Escient interface.

The VS-100 provides dual 500GB drives while the VS-200 provides dual ITB drivers and both feature reliable RAID 1 redundancy and backup. The VS-100 and VS-200 have storage capabilities of about 100 and 200 movies respectively.
Aside from playing DVDs and CDs, both models offer automatic DVD identification using Movie DB database and cover art, plus automatic CD identification using Gracenote CDDB with cover art from AMG.

Both models also feature multi-zone, multi-user audio support when integrated with Escient Fireball line of E2, SE, FP-1 and ZP-1 media managers. They can also accommodate PC file sharing for transferring music and picture files to and from a networked PC or Mac.

Connections include; 1 x Front mount IR input, 1 x 3.5mm rear IR input, HDMI in (x 4), HDMI out, Component Video, S-Video, Composite video, Digital Opt, Digital coax, Analog audio, Gigibit Ethernet port and 3 x USBs.
