In-Stat/MDR found that in 2003 alone, DVD recorder unit shipments increased over 200 percent, as more manufacturers entered the market and prices declined. Over 50 million DVD recorders are expected to ship worldwide in 2007. Several DVD recorder+VCR and Home Theatre in a Box (HTiB)+DVD recorder systems are slated for international roll outs in the next few months.
The DVR 400 was part of a company wide product launch Lenoxx held in Sydney. Lenoxx is an Australian company which develops and manufacturers a wide range of products from TVs and LCDs, CD players, DVD players and recorders, radios, electronic clocks, toys and more.
The company had a big hit last year when they joined forces with the TV show Australian Idol to produce a range of karaoke machines. The company is once again teaming up with the reality show to market a new range of karaoke machines for 2005.
Other products unveiled today include a sub-$300 robotic vacuum cleaner, tiny portable widescreen LCD TVs, a 200 CD Wurlitzer-style jukebox, and more.
Lenoxx service manager Achille Varano said wireless was one of the company's major focuses for the following year, with plans to release a wireless home theatre in a box kit.
