Tuner card manufacturer AVerMedia has announced what it claims is the smallest and lightest USB tuner, the AVerTV DVB-T Volar. Measuring 70mm x 25mm x 11mm, and weighing just 17.5 grams, AVerMedia claims their USB DVB-T stick is the first to comply with NorDig Unified Standards, which maintains strict RF-sensitivity requirements for DVB-T tuner devices. The AVerTV DVB-T Volar is compatible with both Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005 and Linux operating systems, and ships with the latest AVerTV 6 software of which includes Digital Subtitle Support, PIP/POP Setting, and Video Quality Enhancement. The device is also economical, drawing less than 0.4 Ampere of power to maximize the battery life of a notebook computer. The AVerTV DVB-T Volar will be available in early June for $119.
