  Logitech PC Speakers With TruSurround

By SmartHouse Team | Tuesday | 08/04/2008

Logitech’s new surround sound speaker system designed for media centre PCs comes packed with SRS TruSurround HD surround technology, the company has announced.

"Although people are starting to enjoy movies, TV and music on their PC, many of them do not want to setup a traditional 5.1 speaker system to enjoy surround sound," said director of product marketing for Logitech's Audio business unit, Tim Leehane.

"Incorporating SRS TruSurround HD into the Logitech Z Cinema speaker system provides our customers with outstanding audio quality and a unique surround sound experience from their PC with a minimum of effort and setup. The difference is dramatic."

The Z Cinema speaker system comprises of two satellite speakers and an eight-inch subwoofer, but claims to deliver 5.1 surround sound by means of the TruSurround HD technology.

The technology is based on the company's virtual surround technology for flat panel TVs, SRS TruSurround XT. The company says that as the trend to turn the PC into an entertainment unit continues to grow, it is a natural progression to work with PC and PC accessory manufactures to deliver ‘five from two' sound.

SRS Labs says according to a CEA 2007 Computer-Sourced Audio Consumption Study 35% of PC audio consumers are viewing movies and TV shows an average of over 7 hours a week while over 77% are listening to music for about 9 hours a week on their PCs. The vast majority of home desktop PC audio listeners use external speakers. However, only 9% of these external speaker users are connecting to speakers with a surround sound configuration of four or more speakers.
