  HP Recalls Aussie Batteries

By Adam Gosling | Saturday | 15/10/2005

Australian HP notebook batteries are included in the worldwide recall of some 135,000 removable battery packs.

HP locally estimates that 2 per cent of the 135,000 batteries on the recall list are in Asia Pacific.

The voluntary replacement is prompted by a total of 16 reports involving batteries overheating and four cases of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported. This property damage was isolated to either the notebook or the battery pack in question.

The following HP notebook models are included in the recall, the company points out that they are third part battery packs and recommends users run their notebooks on A/C power until the replacement battery pack arrives.
