Lenovo Launches First Consumer Notebooks, Desktops

By Sarah Falson | Wednesday | 30/01/2008

Lenovo has released its first consumer PCs with a line of ‘Idea’ notebooks and desktop PCs with frameless screens, facial recognition software and Dolby surround sound for watching movies.

Though the release date for the line-up has yet to be confirmed, the computers were revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January and will make their Australian debuts one-by-one from the end of January.

The range includes IdeaPad notebooks

and IdeaCentre desktops.  The IdeaPad Y510 and Y710 notebooks, powered by Intel Centrino processor technology, offer facial recognition for entry to the system, Dolby Home Theatre surround sound and dedicated gaming controls.

They also offer frameless screens, touch-sensitive control surfaces, and unique cover textures.

The IdeaCentre desktops complement Lenovo's business-orientated ThinkCentre desktops, and similarly with the IdeaPad and IdeaCentre notebooks, yet with consumer-friendly features including data recovery with one key and antibacterial keyboards.
