Lenovo Confirms Launch Dates & Pricing For Consumer PC Push

By David Richards | Friday | 04/01/2008

Lenovo Australia has confirmed that their new global line of “Idea” notebook and desktop PCs will be available in Australia by February 2008 one month ahead of the US market.

The new IdeaPad Y510 and Y710 notebooks are powered by Intel Centrino processors with the Australian models set to include technologies such as facial recognition, Dolby Home Theatre surround sound and dedicated gaming controls.

Reported earlier by SmartHouse from the US, the local story confirms pricing and launch dates.

The IdeaCentre desktops include features such as data recovery with one key, facial recognition and antibacterial keyboards. The IdeaCentre K200 and Q200 series will be available in Australia.

According to IDC, the worldwide consumer PC market is expected to grow by an average of nearly 10 percent annually through 2011. The consumer market represents over 40 percent of the worldwide PC market today.

"Lenovo's ThinkPad notebooks are well-known throughout the world as the best engineered computer for business -- for quality, reliability and thoughtful design," said David Nicol, Director, Small Business and Consumer, Lenovo Australia and New Zealand.
