Acer says its new ‘notebook replacement' desktop PCs are 10 times smaller and four times lighter than traditional desktops. Additionally, the PCs offer a cut in power consumption of up to 50 percent.
"Previous small form factor desktops sacrificed power for size and features for space, however our new series is truly a no compromise range – they are small and powerful," said Acer Marketing Director, Raymond Vardanega.
Quoting figures from IDC, Acer says small factor PC shipments worldwide are growing by about 45 percent, meaning consumers are clearly looking for a slim-line PC in the future.
The ‘notebook replacement range' includes the AMD Athlon powered AcerPower 1000 which is aimed at small business and home office users. There is also the new media centre PC Acer Aspire L320, which features Intel Core 2 Duo processors and Vista Home Premium. Rounding out the range is a business-focuses model, the Acer Veriton 1000.
