  Asus Unveils Gaming LCD

By Manisha Kanetkar | Tuesday | 10/07/2007

The latest 22-inch LCD from Asus is aimed squarely at hard core gamers. The company says the new monitor (PG221) is all about high performance audio and video.

Designed in black and silver with an aluminium alloy neck, diamond-cut base and black-glared front frame, the monitor comes with ‘Light-in-Motion' scenario lighting effects where each colour (red / green / orange / pink / blue) stands for a sound preset mode (fighting game / strategic game / music / theatre / standard) to get you in the gaming mood.

In terms of connectivity, the monitor offers VGA, DVI, Composite, S-Video, Component (YPbPr, up to 1080i/p) inputs and USB 2.0 ports.

Also built-in to the monitor are 2.1 channel stereo speakers, a 1.3 mega-pixel rotatable webcam and earphone or microphone jacks. The monitor also supports 6.1 channel surround sound with SRS TruSurround XT, something, Asus says is usually only found in LCD TVs.

With a  2ms claimed response time (grey-to-grey) and 2000:1 contrast ratio, the monitor uses Colour Shine Glare Type Panel and Splendid Video technology for producing visuals and is certified for Windows Vista Premium.

RRP: $799
